Jalandhar: By straightaway expelling Punjab unit president Jasvir Singh Garhi, Bahujan Samaj Party has repeated itself exactly after a decade on more than one count. In Sept 2014, the then state president, Parkash Singh Jandali, was not just removed from the post but expelled from the party straightaway. Like Garhi, he too was accused of “indiscipline”.
Now, Garhi is levelling allegations of financial irregularities against state party affairs in-charge Randhir Singh Beniwal. At that time, Jandali had accused state affairs in-charge Narinder Kashyap of corruption and deals with other parties while fielding candidates.
Kashyap, his wife and son were arrested in 2016 for the alleged dowry death of his daughter-in-law.
At that time, Avtar Singh Karimpuri was re-appointed state president. Now also, Karimpuri has been appointed to the post.
Jandali had alleged that he had been made a scapegoat and claimed that after he became state president in 2012, he came to know of the “dirty” games being played by a few top leaders while making a fool out of sincere party workers.
Garhi, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, alleged that he had called up BSP supremo Mayawati’s aide on Tuesday to seek time as "Beniwal was involved in loot”. Beniwal had trashed Garhi’s allegations on Tuesday.
Former BSP state president Rashpal Singh Raju was also kicked out from the party in June 2021 “for indulging in anti-party activities”, nearly two years after he was replaced by Garhi. BSP Mayawati decided to throw him out after he and other leaders advocated review of the seat-sharing formula with SAD and wanted changes in a few seats.
In his Facebook post, Garhi disclosed that it was the first time in the last five-and-a-half years of his tenure as state president to call up Mayawati’s office seeking time. During his entire tenure, he never received a call from her. Garhi said he was not informed about his expulsion, but he came to know of it from a written note issued by the state office, after Beniwal orally conveyed BSP supremo’s message to him.
