Ahmedabad: For food-loving Amdavadis, here's some good news. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) plans to unveil a sprawling food park in Thaltej ward.
The civic body has announced a slew of urban development projects, with the food court promising to be a delightful destination for food lovers of all ages. With an investment of Rs 4.13 crore, the food court will be located on Final Plot Number 188 of TP Scheme 37. This dedicated space is expected to become a hub for social gatherings, a place where residents and visitors alike can enjoy a wide range of culinary treats.
Additionally, for the first time, a separate gym for women is planned in Bodakdev for Rs 3.74 crore. To be built on Final Plot Number 122 of TP Scheme 215 in the Ambli area, this gym will offer a safe space for women to focus on their fitness goals.
Other city enhancements include urban health centres, oxygen parks, lake development and senior citizen parks — all part of AMC's comprehensive, Rs 41.81 crore effort to bring community-driven spaces to the city's neighbourhoods.
On Wednesday, AMC project implementation unit in North West Zone floated tenders for several projects, including a Rs 3.83 crore urban health centre and Rs 4.85 crore open party plot in Chandlodia. Dev City Lake in Chandlodia will see a transformation with Rs 3.95 crore dedicated to its development. AMC has earmarked Rs 3.35 crore for Tragad Oxygen Park, an initiative aiming to boost greenery and provide fresh air pockets in the area. Yadudi Lake, too, is on the beautification roster with an allocation of Rs 78 lakh.
The Gota Science City area will benefit from Rs 3.88 crore for an urban health centre and Rs 4.03 crore for a community library. Additional projects include a Rs 1.16 crore senior citizen park in Gota, Rs 4.69 crore for an open party plot near Umiya Circle, Rs 1.10 crore for conserving Chebli Talavadi Lake in Thaltej, and Rs 3.10 crore for a library in Bopal.
With Rs 41 crore in development work tenders up for grabs, contractors have until Dec 3 to submit bids, and the selected projects will be greenlit on Dec 5. AMC has also issued tenders to construct rainwater recharge wells across its buildings in Bodakdev, Gota, Chandlodia and Thaltej, aiming to bolster rainwater harvesting efforts citywide.
