Chandigarh: After successfully inducting the sniffers in the anti-narcotics cell of the state, the Haryana Police on Wednesday claimed to have inducted 27 more sniffers in its dog squad for deployment in various branches of crime tracking.
With today’s induction the total number of sniffers in the K3 unit has reached 63. The sniffers are of three breeds – Belgian Shepherds, German Shepherds, and Labradors – and all of these receive high-quality care and maintenance.
After getting basic training from the ITBP training centre in Bhanu, Panchkula, these dogs were enrolled for induction and refreshers’ course at RTC, Bhondsi.
From Jan to Oct 2024, the Haryana Police dog squad contributed to the resolution of 24 cases, leading to the seizure of substantial quantities of narcotics – 24.45 kg of marijuana, 17.18 grams of heroin, 42.45 grams of smack, 10.572 kg of poppy husk, and 62 grams of charas.
