Rajkot: The prosecution submitted documentary evidence in court in the TRP Game Zone fire case after the chargesheet was filed in July.
Special public prosecutor Tushar Gokani said, "We have opened the case for trial and submitted documentary evidence of 5,000 pages to the court. We also have supplied scanned copies of this evidence in a DVD to all the accused." The submission of evidence is the first step towards starting the trial. The court is expected to frame charges on Nov 14, at the next hearing. There are some accused who have not hired advocates so far. The court asked the accused to hire advocates to help in court proceedings.
The chargesheet was filed against 15 accused — Dhaval Thakkar, Yuvraj Solanki, Rahul Rathod, Nitin Lodha, Ashok Jadeja, Kirit Jadeja, Mahesh Rathod, Mansukh Sagathiya, Gautam Joshi, Mukesh Makwana, Jaydip Chaudhary, Rajesh Makwana, Rohit Vigora, Bhikha Theba and Ilesh Kher. The 16th accused, Prakash Hiran, died in the fire. Police have named 365 witnesses in the chargesheet.
The victims' families are waiting for the trial to begin. Twenty-seven people died in the fire at the gaming zone on the evening of May 25.
