Noida: Traffic police have launched an awareness program across the city, including Sectors 24 and 62, Botanical Garden, and other areas, as part of Nov's ‘Traffic Safety Month.'
Aiming to promote traffic safety and enforce regulations, the department's team is educating auto drivers and cabbies on adhering to speed limits and traffic rules.
In the first six days of Nov, police issued over 30,000 challans for various violations.
Special campaigns target drivers of autos, cabs, and school buses to ensure compliance with traffic rules and speed limits.
Noida traffic police deputy commissioner Yamuna Prasad said that the 30,000 challans issued include violations for riding without helmets, illegal parking, driving on the wrong side, and running red lights.
Police also addressed offences like driving without seatbelts, pollution violations, and using mobile phones while driving.
To raise awareness, police organised programmes at schools and academic institutions in Sectors 24 and 62, including Modern School in Sector 11, and at busy intersections like Bisrakh and Parthala.
"These programmes focused on educating students, teachers, drivers, and commuters about traffic regulations. Special awareness drives were also held for delivery partners of food and e-commerce companies. An awareness program was conducted at Bisrakh and Parthala roundabouts for auto and cab drivers," an official said.
Police commissioner Laxmi Singh inaugurated Traffic Safety Month with a rally on Nov 1.
Last Nov, traffic police issued over 2.5 lakh e-challans.
This year, from Jan to Sept, the district reported 853 accidents, resulting in 331 deaths and 735 injuries.
