New Delhi: A Delhi court recently dismissed the second bail application of a woman accused in a child trafficking case, stating that there was no merit in the application for regular bail.
Pooja Kashyap, the accused, sought bail on the grounds of parity with another woman who was granted bail. However, the court of special judge Gagandeep Singh rejected her plea, outlining her role in the case.
The case pertains to the alleged trafficking and sale of five infants. It was registered by CBI on a complaint filed on April 5 by its own official, deputy SP J Chandru. The complaint also mentioned several other individuals, including Neeraj and Indu Pawar.
The court noted that the prosecution submitted call detail records of Kashyap's mobile number. These records revealed her location to be in Karala, Delhi on April 4 during an alleged trafficking event. The prosecution also presented intercepted call transcripts, which included a conversation involving the accused discussing infant trafficking.
CBI apprehended accused Neeraj, Indu Pawar and Aslam during an attempted sale of an infant at Tri Nagar. The agency also seized Rs 5.1 lakh and rescued the infant. During subsequent CBI raids, another male infant was found at Kashyap's residence in Tri Nagar. Additionally, a female infant was located with co-accused Kavita, at the direction of another accused, Anjali alias Golu.
Another infant was recovered from the possession of accused Hari Singh. Anjali and another suspect, Neeraj, sold a newborn boy to a couple in Patiala, Punjab, on March 7.
All five rescued infants are in child welfare institutions. tnn
