Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh district administration on Wednesday imposed restrictions on Chhath Puja celebrations at two of the major river ghats due to a rise in water level of the Brahmaputra. Dibrugarh east revenue circle officer Samujjwal Borah said the devotees can perform their rituals at five designated ghats in the district. “We have authorised five ghats for this year’s Chhath Puja celebrations — Panchali ghat, Paltan Bazar ghat, Tinkunia ghat, Maijan Thakurbari ghat and the Brahmaputra and Sessa ghat,” stated Borah. Mohana ghat and Kachari ghat have been excluded from the list, reports Rajib Dutta.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi announced the city's readiness for Chhath Puja, stating that over 1,000 ghats have been prepared for the festivities. This initiative aims to accommodate the large Poorvanchali population in Delhi, eliminating the need for them to travel back to their hometowns. Atishi emphasized the provision of essential amenities at these ghats, ensuring a convenient celebration for all.
