Hazaribag: A 30-year-old COBRA battalion jawan died after falling from a three-storeyed residential building in Barhi. The deceased, identified as Rakesh Bhai, son of Kanu Bhai from Gujarat's Dahor district, was stationed at the Barhi base.
Barhi police station officer-in-charge Abhas Kumar led the response team to the scene. The jawan was rushed to Barhi hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police registered an unnatural death case and conducted a post-mortem. The deceased, who lived with his wife and young child in Barhi, received a ceremonial salute from his battalion, led by their commandant.
In a separate incident, a truck veered off a bridge and plunged into River Patra, killing its driver, Doman Mahto (49), on Keredari-Tandwa Main Road, on Tuesday night. Police recovered the vehicle and sent the body to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital, Hazaribag, for post-mortem.
