Ranchi: District administration will deploy police personnel, magistrates, and disaster response teams to ensure safety during Chhath celebrations. Security arrangements will be in place from Thursday 11 am till the Argya ceremony and from Friday 2 am till the completion of rituals.
Police forces will be stationed at 62 water bodies, including ponds, dams, and river banks, while security personnel will guard approximately 50 sensitive routes across the city. Seven quick reaction teams, each led by a deputy superintendent of police, will be ready to respond to emergencies.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) will be positioned at high-risk water bodies to prevent drowning incidents. The administration has identified 26 high-risk locations, including Kanke Dam, Hatma Talaab, and Dhurwa Dam. Additionally, 13 water bodies have been classified as medium-risk and 27 as low-risk ghats.
Ranchi SDO Utkarsh Kumar said, "An NDRF team will be stationed at a high-risk water body, while SDRF teams will be deployed at Bada Talaab and Hatania Talaab. Local officials have been instructed to ensure divers with life jackets are present at locations without NDRF and SDRF coverage."
Deep areas in water bodies have been being marked with red tapes and warning signs to protect devotees.
