Kanpur: A man axed his wife to death over suspicion of extramarital relations, in Jalaun district on Wednesday. The accused has been arrested.
The accused told the police that his wife had relationships with many people despite his repeated warnings.
Accused, Amar Singh of Manpur village worked as a tempo driver in Gurgaon, Haryana. His wife Kusma Devi (35), lived in village with their two children. During his visit to home for Diwali, Amar attacked his wife with an axe on her head and neck in a burst of anger, causing her immediate death.
Senior police officials including SP Durgesh Kumar, ASP Pradeep Kumar Verma and CO Shailendra Bajpai, visited the crime scene alongside a forensic team to investigate. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
The couple married in 2012 after a love affair. However, their relationship deteriorated in recent years following which Kusma's mother Sukhrani moved in with her daughter. According to Sukhrani, the couple used to fight frequently on phone. Amar grew suspicious whenever he found Kusma's phone engaged. On Wednesday also the couple had an argument after which Amar killed Kusma.
