Varanasi: A Deputy Controller of Civil Defense, Narendra Sharma (52), was found dead inside his room in Geeta Nagar Colony under Pandeypur Lalpur police station on Wednesday morning.
ACP Cantt Vidush Saxena said that the Deputy Controller was found dead on his bed in his rented house in Geeta Nagar Colony near Chaukaghat. The room was locked from the inside and the TV was on when police broke into the room after being alerted by his domestic help. The ACP added that the body was sent for a post-mortem examination. Officials suspect that he died of cardiac arrest.
Locals informed the police that they saw him returning home from duty on Tuesday evening, but on Wednesday, Sharma did not come out of his room. In the morning, when his maid and driver arrived, they found the door locked from the inside. When Sharma did not open the door till late, they called the police.
