Jaipur: Education department has started compiling the number of students in both govt and private schools to conduct common exams for classes 9-12. Officials said only private schools affiliated with the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) will have common exams with govt schools.
Education director Ashish Modi on Monday issued an order to all district education officers, instructing them to collate the number of students studying in all govt and private schools and upload it on the Shala Darpan portal of the department within three days.
"Common examinations will help ensure that there is uniform assessment in govt schools across the state, along with competency mapping of students as per the National Education Policy. It will also ensure that the full syllabus is covered in classroom education in all govt schools of the state and not just the part that is to be tested," said an official from the education department.
Officials also said that the syllabus for the exams, especially the half-yearly exams for Class 9 and Class 11, will be declared this month.
To ensure transparency in the school examination process, the education department in Sept had announced that they would be setting question papers for all classes from 9-12 at the directorate level from the current academic session. Until now, question papers for only board Classes 10 and 12 were the same. Now, half-yearly and final exam question papers for Classes 9 and 11 will also be the same for all districts.
Govt schoolteachers in the state have raised doubts over conducting half-yearly exams for Classes 9-12 and final exams for Classes 9 and 11 together across the state, stating that this can increase the risk of paper leaks. If such a situation arises, the exam will have to be conducted for the whole state again.
