Begusarai: Chief minister Nitish Kumar inspected the newly constructed riverfront as well as Chhath ghats in Simaria Dham Wednesday and offered ‘Ganga pujan' amid chanting of Vedic hymns by sadhus and saints.
Expressing satisfaction over the beautification of the ghats, he said that the ‘ghats now look beautiful'. The CM added that he had visited the place many times for its development as a tourist spot.
He directed the local authorities to ensure all possible facilities to those offering ‘arghyas' on chhath puja. He asked the officials to ensure cleanliness, safety and proper lighting arrangements for the devotees because of the large number of Chhath vratis expected to turn up at the ghats in Begusarai on Thursday and Friday.
During his fifteen-minute stay, the chief minister also took a view of the Kalpavas area. He met a group of sadhus and saints on the occasion and also inspected the newly constructed dharmshala.
During his visit to the dharmshala, Nitish asked about the available facilities for the devotees at the public resthouse. Additionally, the CM also asked about the status of the construction of the ongoing six-lane road bridge over the Ganga river and directed the officials to complete its construction as soon as possible.
Water resources minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, MP and former water resources minister Sanjay Kumar Jha, state sports minister Surendra Mehta, Begusarai MLA Kundan Kumar, Matihani MLA Rajkumar Singh and Teghra MLA Ram Ratan Singh were present along with Nitish.
