Coimbatore: Four police personnel attached to the Coimbatore rural police were suspended for receiving bribes from a liquor peddler and a truck driver.
While Coimbatore rural police head constable Madankumar allegedly received a bribe from a liquor peddler, special sub-inspector Prabhakaran demanded money from a farmer engaged in illegal toddy sales.
Vadakkipalayam police head constable Selvakumar and Gomangalam police constable Panjalingam allegedly received bribes from truck drivers at the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border checkpoint at Nadupuni in Coimbatore district.
Coimbatore district superintendent of police Dr K Karthikeyan received complaints against the four tainted police personnel and formed a team to verify the allegations.
After confirming the complaints against the tainted police officers, Karthikeyan suspended the four cops on Monday.
