Gorakhpur: In a chilling incident in Kanakhuria village of Kasaya in Kushinagar district, a man was stabbed to death while he was on his way to report harassment complaints against local youths.
The victim, Satish Yadav (42), was allegedly attacked by two youths, Satyam Tiwari and Shubham Tiwari, when he was heading to the police station with his elder brother, Vijay Yadav, to report repeated harassment of his nieces by the two accused. On the complaint of Vijay, the police lodged an FIR against two brothers Satyam Tiwari, Shivam Tiwari and their father Anand Tiwari. We have taken Anand Tiwari into custody while Satyam and Shivam are still at large, police said.
"My brother will never return, but I want the culprits to face severe punishment so that we get justice," said Vijay, who was with Satish at the time of the attack, while waiting at the hospital for the postmortem report, still reeling from the tragedy.
Satish is survived by his three young children- Anushka (12), Kritika (10), and an 18-month-old son, Yuvraj. He ran a fertilizer shop and was known as a dedicated family man. His nieces, who had faced repeated harassment by Satyam Tiwari while commuting to school, had previously confided in the family about the troubling incidents. Despite Vijay's earlier attempts to address the issue by confronting Satyam, the harassment continued, prompting the brothers to seek police intervention.
A case has been registered against the accused. Additional Superintendent of Police Ritesh Kumar Singh stated that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects, with promises of swift legal action.
