Hyderabad: Senior IAS officer A Vani Prasad narrowly escaped a road accident in Suryapet district on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway on Monday morning.
The accident occurred when the principal secretary of labour, Andhra Pradesh, was on her way to Vijayawada from Hyderabad, said police. Vani Prasad was recently allotted to Andhra Pradesh, prior to which she served in Telangana for a decade.
Quoting Vani Prasad's driver Perikolla Anand, police said at around 9.30 am while crossing Akupamula village in Munagala mandal, Anand swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid hitting another vehicle coming in the opposite direction on the wrong route.
In the process, he rear-ended another car on the left moving towards Kodad and then went off the road before coming to a halt in the fields abutting the highway. Luckily, Vani Prasad and her driver escaped unhurt in the accident. They were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, said D Ramakrishna Reddy, circle inspector, Munagala.TNN
