Bathinda: Protesting farmers under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non Political) will continue protesting at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders as their meeting with a Supreme Court-appointed committee on Monday remained inconclusive with farmers sticking to their stand to march to the national capital.
The meeting was held at Haryana Niwas here. Farmers also submitted a charter of 13 demands. “We are still firm on our decision of Feb 13. The committee has listened to us, and we hope a solution will be found. Soon, a meeting of SKM will be called, and the future strategy will be decided,” a farmer leader told the media after the meeting.
Meanwhile, even as leaders of SKM (Non-Political) attended the meeting, no one from the second group, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), were present.
The groups have been protesting to demand a legal guarantee to minimum support price (MSP) on all crops as per the Swaminathan Commission report. Representatives of SKM (Non-Political) said they had gone to the meeting to hand over the demand charter. Leaders of KMM said they will comment only after the joint meeting on Nov 7.
