Panchkula: A 37-year-old Pinjore resident was killed after a vehicle hit him and sped away near Zirakpur checkpoint on VIP Road on Saturday. The victim, Nitin Kumar, was returning home on Nov 2 after attending a religious event at his workplace in Zirakpur. Nitin’s father, Mohan Lal, reported that his son had left home around 4 pm on his motorcycle to participate in puja at his office. Around 7.30pm near the Zirakpur checkpoint in Panchkula’s Industrial Area, Phase-1, an unidentified vehicle crashed into his bike at a high speed. He was taken to the Government Hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula, from where he was referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh, but he died on Sunday. Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 106 of the BNS Act in sector 20 police station.
