Mysuru: Two weeks after a man was found murdered and his assailants tried to cover up the crime by projecting it as black magic, police uncovered the crime by arresting his wife and two of her male companions.
Sadashiva was murdered with his throat slit near the govt school in Maduvniahalli in Nanjangud taluk on Oct 16, and the crime came to light on Oct 17. His assailants placed a lemon smeared with vermilion, turmeric leaves, and money near his body to mislead the police.
Superintendent of police N Vishnuvardhana said that the investigation by the district police helped crack the murder case after the team connected all the dots and finally found the alleged involvement of the victim's wife, Rajeshwari.
The questioning of the suspect led to the discovery of the murder. Two others, Shivaiah and Rangaswamy, who helped her in eliminating Sadashiva, were also detained by the police on charges of murder.
Police investigation revealed that Rajeshwari and Sadashiva had a strained relationship, and the accused, Shivaiah and Rangaswamy, took advantage of this to develop friendship with Rajeshwari. The accused got the victim to drink lot of alcohol and then allegedly eliminated him by slitting his throat, said police.
