November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, and I want to take a moment to honor the incredible caregivers in our community. For those of you supporting a loved one with Alzheimer’s or any form of dementia, we see the love, patience, and strength you pour into each day. Your journey, while filled with profound connection, can also be deeply challenging, and we want you to know that you are not alone.
It has been an honor to work alongside our Caregiver Support Coordinator and Certified Dementia Specialist, Lynn Wood. She changes lives by working one-on-one with caregivers, providing them with the tools and insights they need to focus on creating lasting memories throughout this unique and challenging journey with dementia.
Lynn’s main focus is always on the mental health and well-being of caregivers, because, as you know, you can’t pour from an empty cup! She often compares it to the safety instructions on an airplane: always put on your own oxygen mask before assisting others.
Our caregiver support motto is simple yet powerful: “You care for THEM, let us care for YOU.” You play such an essential role, and your well-being matters deeply. Remember that taking care of yourself allows you to continue showing up for those you love with the energy and compassion they deserve. Please reach out if there’s any way we can support you—whether you need a listening ear or guidance on our available resources.
