State Bank of India (SBI) warns its customers about fraudulent SMS and WhatsApp messages related to SBI Reward points. The bank clarifies it never sends such messages and advises users against clicking suspicious links. The fake messages prompt customers to redeem reward points and could lead to potential scams.
State Bank of India (SBI) has issued a warning to its customers about fraudulent SMS and WhatsApp messages regarding SBI Reward points. Through a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), SBI alerted users about scammers who send messages prompting them to redeem reward points. SBI clarified that it never sends such messages and advised customers to avoid clicking on any links in these suspicious messages.
SBI offers reward points to its customers for every transaction. The value of each point is INR 25 paisa. These Reward Points can be used to redeem a wide range of products and services like merchandise, movie tickets, mobile/DTH recharge, airline tickets, hotel booking and much more

What the SMS/WhatsApp message reads


As per the SBI post, the fake message received on WhatsApp and via SMS reads “Dear Customer Account- Yono SBI net banking Reward point INR Rs.9895 will be Today expiry documents redeem YOUR CASH click Link -nct.short.gv/Me.”

“Attention SBI Customers: Beware of fraudsters.
It is observed that fraudsters are sending messages and APKs over SMS or WhatsApp for redeeming SBI reward points.
Please note that SBI never shares such messages and APKs over SMS or WhatsApp. Do not click on any such links or download unknown files.
