Lucknow: A moving car caught fire in Vikas Nagar on Sunday. The incident took place at 11:15 am. The onlookers said that after the smoke came out, it took only a few seconds for the car to turn into a ball of fire. The occupants were saved as they jumped out of the moving car just in the nick of time, said the police.
The commuters passing by the spot informed the fire brigade about it, and a team reached the location and started extinguishing the fire. Two fire brigade teams brought the fire under control.
According to the police, the family was going from Munshi Pulia to Teedhi Pulia. The car had just reached the ring road in Vikas Nagar when smoke began coming out of the car. Seeing the smoke, the commuters shouted and drew the attention of the car driver, who immediately got down and ran to safety along with the other occupants.
Ghazipur (Indiranagar) ACP Anindya Vikram Singh said that the man in the driving seat, identified as Anish Farooqui, was with his family in the car.
"When he reached near the Palace guest house, he suddenly applied the brakes. There was a sudden spark and smoke started coming out of the car. The fire brigade was informed instantly. Two vehicles from Indira Nagar and Bakshi Ka Talab reached the spot and controlled the fire," said the ACP.
