Ludhiana: A day after Raikot police booked 12 persons, including a BKU leader, for the murder of a Barnala resident, the accused are yet to be arrested. On Saturday, police booked 12 persons, including Jaspreet Singh Dhat of Dhat village, district president of a kisan union, Danveer Cheena of Noorpura, and others. One of them allegedly shot dead Amandeep Singh of Pandori village in Barnala.
SSP Ludhiana Rural, Navneet Singh Bains, said four to five teams and the CIA are working on the case.
The complainant, Hardeep Singh of Pandori in Mehal Kalan, Barnala, and cousin of the deceased, recounted that on Diwali, that they, along with friends, went to a plot bought by his friend Baljit Singh to light candles. He received a call from Danveer Cheena, which led to an argument between Danveer and Amandeep. They then went to Danveer’s office in Raikot, where Danveer was present with 8-10 people. Hardeep added that Danveer, on the insistence of Jaspreet Singh, shot Amandeep in front of him.
According to the complainant, the motive behind the crime was related to Amandeep’s love marriage, which was facilitated by Danveer Cheena. About a month ago, Amandeep’s wife went to England, and Danveer allegedly incited her against Amandeep, speaking ill of him. This caused frequent fights between Amandeep and his wife, leading to Amandeep’s distress. TNN
