Bhagalpur: In light of the large crowds in trains originating from Delhi and other stations as well as long-distance trains passing through Bhagalpur, the Eastern Railway (ER) has introduced additional trains and rescheduled existing services. These include the 04035 Bhagalpur-New Delhi Special, 03281 Bhagalpur-Rajgir Special and 04087 Bhagalpur-Anand Vihar Terminal Special, according to the Malda railway division of ER.
“To clear the rush of passengers returning to Delhi after Diwali, a special train with unreserved coaches — 04087 Bhagalpur-Anand Vihar — will depart Bhagalpur at 3pm on Monday, November 4, arriving in Anand Vihar at 4pm the following day,” the ER announced.
Trains such as the 03435 Malda Town-Anand Vihar Terminus Special have been scheduled to assist with travel needs during and after Chhath.
“These trains will include all classes of coaches as well as unreserved coaches to accommodate large number of last-minute travellers,” said Manish Kumar Gupta, divisional railway manager (DRM) of Malda railway division.
“Thousands of berths have been added to these special trains for Diwali and Chhath to help passengers from distant areas reach their homes for the festivals and return to their work destinations,” added the DRM.
The DRM added that railway officials have been instructed to prepare for the heavy passenger rush during and after Chhath. “Safety installations, including CCTV at Bhagalpur and other stations, have been re-checked to monitor passengers and deter anti-social elements,” he said.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) posts and the dog squad team have also been mobilised for passenger safety and additional ticket counters have been made functional to manage the crowd,” he added.
