Kanpur: A five-year-old child, identified as Anvit, son of Rahul Kashyap, died after a chewing gum got stuck in his throat in Barra Jarauli Phase-1 on Sunday evening. Anvit purchased and consumed chewing gum from a neighbourhood shop. Subsequently, it got stuck in his throat, causing respiratory distress.
As his condition deteriorated, his mother Sonalika administered water, which offered momentary relief, but his breathing difficulties intensified later. The parents rushed Anvit to a nearby private hospital, and upon finding treatment unavailable there, they proceeded to another hospital.
Throughout this ordeal, the child struggled for approximately three hours before his demise. The police said that they approached family members regarding a post-mortem examination request, but they declined the procedure. tnn
