Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta voiced concerns over the sluggish implementation of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) at Mangaluru Junction Railway Station. During a railway officials' review meeting, he instructed them to create a timeline and ensure the contractor adheres to it for swift project completion.
Further, the MP instructed officials to speed up the development of Bantwal station under ABSS after the matter of slow progress was discussed. Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath raised the issue of railway land encroachment by restaurant owners at Attavar and Morgan's Gate, prompting the MP to direct Railways to issue notices to the parties involved.
Railway authorities confirmed that they would submit a foot-over bridge proposal at Thokkottu Olapete within a month. Regarding the Padil underpass waterlogging issue, the MP asked railway and MCC officials to hold a joint meeting to identify potential solutions.
Additionally, the MP requested proposals for expanding the shelter at Puttur Railway Station. He also sought the inclusion of a first AC compartment in Lokmanya Tilak (T) – Mangaluru Central Matsyagandha Express when its coaches are upgraded to LHB (Linke-Hofmann-Busch) Coaches in Feb.
