Udupi: Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar criticised the state govt for neglecting farmers' needs by failing to allocate funds to install planks on vented dams in Udupi district. He said that around 250 dams in his constituency, as well as others across Udupi, urgently need plank installations. Unfortunately, the state govt has not released funds.
He said, despite his appeals to the minister of minor irrigation NS Boseraju and officials concerned, funds are yet to be released. Sunil Kumar highlighted the critical role of these dams, which help store water for farmers and sustain surrounding water sources. With the monsoon over and the flow of rivers reducing, he warned that without prompt installation of planks, water storage could fall short, impacting agriculture and potentially leading to shortages by summer. He urged the govt to release funds immediately.
