In a shocking incident near Kurukshetra, three unidentified assailants attacked a Sikh Gurdwara employee, Ratananmol Singh. The attackers forcibly cut Singh's unshorn hair, a sacred symbol in Sikhism, after robbing and assaulting him. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident, while HSGMC leaders have pledged support to the victim, demanding swift justice.
KURUKSHETRA: An initiated Sikh employee of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC), alleged that his Kes (unshorn hair) have been forcibly shorn by three miscreants, when he was on his way back home from work on Sunday late evening.
The victim, identified as Ratananmol Singh, resident of Qila Sikhan in Shahabad-Markanda town of Kurukshetra district, works as a Sewadar (attendant) at historic Gurdwara Mardon Sahib in Ambala district.
On the complaint of Ratananmol Singh, the Kurukshetra police have registered a case against three unknown persons under Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint), 299 (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 3(5) (when a criminal act is done by several persons in furtherance of the common intention of all, each of such persons is liable for that act in the same manner as if it were done by him alone.) and 304 (snatching) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, at Shahabad police station at 12:15 am on Monday.
In his complaint, Ratananmol said, “I left for home from Gurdwara Mardon Sahib at about 6:45 pm. When I was about 1km near to Sambhalkhi village, three men came on a motorcycle from behind. They forcibly stopped me by coming in my way and started assaulting me. They tied my hands with a rope, snatched Rs 300 and a watch from me. They picked me up and pushed me to the roadside. They removed my turban and threw it away. They then shorn my Kes (unshorn hair) with a trimmer machine and took my hair along in a bag.”
Shahabad police station house officer (SHO) Nirmal Kumar said, “We have deputed teams of CIA for the investigation and the possible suspects in the area are being checked. A case under relevant Sections of the law was registered.”
Meanwhile, leaders of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) including its senior vice president Sudarshan Singh Sehgal and spokesman Kawaljit Singh Ajrana reached Ratananmol’s house to offer him all kinds of support in this matter and motivated him to stay in high spirit.
In a video released on HSGMC social media handles, Ajrana said, “They will not sit until the culprits of this crime are arrested and given punishment. The culprits should not be spared at any cost and we stand firmly with Ratananmol.”
