Prayagraj: In a meeting held on Sunday evening, the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) decided to abstain from judicial work on Monday (Nov 4) as a mark of protest against the cane charging on the lawyers of district court at Ghaziabad on Oct 29 at the instance of district judge, Ghaziabad.
In a resolution, the HCBA has demanded immediate suspension of district judge, Ghaziabad, and also of the police officers concerned. Besides, it has also demanded compensation to the injured lawyers.
The meeting was presided over by the president of the bar Anil Tiwari .
In the meeting, it has also been decided that a criminal contempt petition will be filed on behalf of the HCBA against the district judge of Ghaziabad in this connection.
In the resolution, the HCBA demanded that the high court administration should take stern steps so that such incidents are not repeated in future.
The Bar Council of UP, has already urged the lawyers across the state to register their protest on Nov 4 .
It may be mentioned that lawyers and baton-wielding police personal came to blows in courtroom in Ghaziabad on Tuesday (Oct 29) after the district judge called the force in to remove protesting lawyers raising slogan against him over a disagreement.
Some of the lawyers claimed they suffered injuries as police personnel used batons on them, and police officials alleged that agitating advocates set local police outpost on fire.
