Patna: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by a group of men in a four-storey apartment located in a posh locality of Patna on Friday night. According to the police, the girl sustained injuries in her private parts and was admitted to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) where she is undergoing treatment.
Police arrested the girl’s stepmother, who allegedly forced the minor into sex trade, and four other people, including two men, for raping the girl. All the accused were booked under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and POCSO Act. The other accused are identified as Aprit (28), Sanjeev Kumar (49), Sonu Kumar (28) and Aarti Kumari (35).
The horrifying crime came to light when the staff of a private hospital became suspicious and informed the Patna police that a minor was admitted by some men in a critical condition on Friday night. Upon receiving the information, the team reached the hospital and the girl was referred to the PMCH for better treatment.
City superintendent of police (central) Sweety Sehrawat said based on the girl’s statement, the police contacted the local police station where the crime was committed and the cops reached the flat of the accused, Arpit. “During the investigation, it came to light that the girl’s stepmother used to send her to someone’s houses and forced her to work as a prostitute,” she said.
“The minor’s stepmother came in contact with Aarti, who lives in the same locality with her live-in partner Sonu. Arpit had contacted Sonu and demanded for a girl. Aarti and her partner took the girl to the accused’s flat (on the first floor of the apartment), where his friend Sanjeev was already present. Both of them raped the girl. When the girl was excessively bleeding from her private parts, they took her to the hospital (almost 5km away from the crime spot). The hospital’s staff informed the police, following which five people were arrested,” Sehrawat said.
