Hisar: A woman was arrested in Uklana on Saturday on charges of accepting Rs 2.3 lakh as the price for allegedly not framing former Haryana labour minister Anoop Dhanak’s brother Satish Kumar in a false rape case. She is alleged to have already extorted Rs 13.5 lakh from him.
The Uklana police registered this case based on Satish Kumar’s complaint against a woman, a former sarpanch, and others. The extortion case was registered under sections 308 (2), 308 (6), and 3(5) of the BNS.

In the police complaint, Kumar alleged that about two years ago, the woman had approached him at a house in Uklana Mandi to seek his assistance in obtaining a document for labour department benefits. Initially, Satish entertained those requests and helped her out with money occasionally, but then her demands escalated and he had to decline her alleged offer of a personal relationship.
Satish’s FIR suggests that the woman had started threatening him on WhatsApp that she would implicate him in false cases if he didn’t comply. Concerned for his brother’s reputation, Satish had sought counsel of a Matloda villager, who then contacted the woman and found out that she wanted Rs 10 lakh, which Satish paid partially, fearing defamation. Over the following months, the woman allegedly extorted Rs 6.5 lakh out of him and made continuing demands for money that totals to Rs 13.5 lakh.
The ex-minister’s brother has claimed in his police report how he had come to know on Sept 10, 2023, that the woman had filed a complaint against him. Between Sept and Dec 2023, he allegedlypaid her a total of Rs 5 lakh.
By Oct 2, during Haryana’s assembly elections, mediator Madan Lal allegedly called one of Satish’s associates and thereatened to make the matter public unless another payment was made. When the demands increased to Rs 9 lakh, Satish filed a complaint at Uklana’s police station. Cops arrested the woman on Oct 30, allegedly in the act of receiving Rs 2.3 lakh in marked bills.
