Mumbai, 2nd November 2024: On Friday, as Diwali celebrations took place across Mumbai, fires broke out in four separate locations, though fortunately, no fatalities or severe injuries were reported.
The first incident occurred around 3:20 am at the Oceanic building in Chira Bazar, Kalbadevi. Officials reported that 25-30 people were rescued from the premises. Three men sustained minor injuries while attempting to escape via the stairs and were treated at BYL Nair Hospital’s outpatient department.
Later in the evening, a fire ignited at 6:58 pm at a ration office on Phoenix Road, Sion. This blaze was brought under control by 8:10 pm, with no injuries recorded.
Another fire was reported at 7:35 pm at Lodha Fiorenza in Goregaon East, limited to a single apartment on the 30th floor, which was fully extinguished by 8:40 pm.
At 7:54 pm, a fire engulfed around 18-20 scrap godowns on Mahakali Caves Road in Andheri East’s MIDC area, affecting electric wiring, installations, and stored materials. Firefighters managed to fully douse the flames by 11:38 pm.
