Ludhiana: Five unidentified assailants barged into a factory at Uchi Mangli village, held the security guard hostage and stole 12 quintals of copper and six quintals of aluminium. Once the miscreants escaped, the security guard informed his employer, who alerted the police.
A case was filed against five unidentified accused on the complaint of factory owner Munish Kumar Bansal, a resident of Sher-e-Punjab colony, Barewal road.
The complainant said that security guard Harjeet Singh called him on Thursday and said that five men had scaled the boundary wall of the factory to break in. He added that the miscreants, who were armed with sharp-edged and blunt weapons, held him hostage. They later stole aluminium and copper and escaped.
Investigating officer from Focal Point police station, head constable Avtar Singh said that a case had been filed under Section 305 (theft in a dwelling house), 331 (4) (lurking house trespass) of BNS against the accused. Police are scanning CCTV cameras installed at the spot.

Six workers at a camphor factory near Singanamala mandal in Anantapur district fell sick after inhaling toxic gas while cleaning reactors. They lost consciousness but were quickly rescued by their colleagues and taken to a nearby hospital for first-aid. Later, they were transferred to a government hospital in Anantapur where they received oxygen and further treatment.
