For 2025, Alfa Romeo pares down the Stelvio lineup from three trims to one, and shifts most options into packages. The high-powered Quadrifoglio version is gone, and along with it any available powertrain upgrades. All-wheel drive is now standard across the lineup.
There’s also a new limited Tributo Italiano edition, which has some lovely styling updates inside and out, such as 21-inch alloy wheels, a body-color body kit, and a leather-trimmed dashboard.
The Stelvio’s crossover profile stands out thanks to curvy lines reminiscent of its stablemate sedan, the Giulia. While many competitors incorporate all-terrain styling, if not actual capability, the Stelvio’s elegance makes clear it has no desire to venture off pavement.
Every model features a peppy 280-hp 2.0-liter turbo-4 teamed with a fast-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Available performance upgrades are minimal, namely adaptive dampers and a limited-slip rear differential.
The cabin is snug and nicely outfitted, even though the Germans do it better. Alfa Romeo supplies a decent infotainment system and plenty of driver-assistance features, such as automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. However, the Stelvio hasn’t been crash tested.

The exterior design is unmistakably Italian in origin, though Alfa Romeo adds plenty of fresh, modern cues, like adaptive LED headlights. The Stelvio looks and feels more like a high-riding wagon than an SUV, and eschews the trend of hinting at all-terrain capability where there is none. For 2025, 19-inch alloy wheels are newly standard, while 20-inchers are available.

It puts power to all four wheels with a slick 8-speed automatic transmission that can be run via standard steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. According to Alfa Romeo, it’s capable of a 5.4-second 0-60 mph run and a top speed of 144 mph. It’s one of the quickest 4-banger crossovers we’ve driven, so no arguments there.
Steering is extremely responsive, bordering on too responsive due to a very quick ratio, and the ride can sometimes feel too firm. Braking is quick, too, though more subtle pedal feedback would be an improvement.

The Stelvio is reasonably upscale and comfortable, but most competitors are more so.
This driver-centric Alfa Romeo puts passengers second in its snug cabin. The 2025 Stelvio earns a 6, with two points earned for its comfy front seats and reasonable cargo space, but a point snatched back for its cramped second row.
Leather upholstery and heated, power-adjustable, firmly bolstered front seats come standard, but rear passengers get a scant 31.9 inches of legroom. You’ll find more rear space in many compact cars. The cabin is generally well finished, though there are some bits of cheap plastic.
The Stelvio’s cargo hold accommodates just 18.5 cubic feet of gear, though with the rear seats folded, it expands to 56.5, which is much more reasonable.
