Nagpur: The ambient air quality of the Ambazari area improved to a moderate level on Thursday, a day after it dropped to the poor category. The overall rating for the city also remained at a moderate level.
According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) bulletin, Nagpur recorded a moderate air quality index of 126 on Thursday. The air quality index (AQI) at certain spots crossed the 200 mark, placing them in the poor category for a certain duration.
The continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations (CAAQMS) in Mahal, Civil Lines, and Ram Nagar showed AQI levels below 200 by Thursday evening. The Ambazari CAAQMS recorded an AQI of 158, while PM2.5 rose to a maximum of 93 during the day.
The lowest AQI of 98 was recorded by the Civil Lines station, followed by Mahal at 108 and Ram Nagar at 126. The PM2.5 levels in Mahal peaked at 205 and in Ram Nagar at 251 during the day.
