Kolkata: The Joynagar cops submitted its primary charge sheet in the rape-murder of a class IV Kultali student. The charge sheet was filed in 25 days, even as Nabanna had set a deadline of three months to ensure that the trials began.
Cops have slapped BNS sections 103 (murder), 65 (rape) and 66 (punishment for causing death or resulting in a persistent vegetative state of the victim), all of which can result in maximum penalty of death sentence.
The charge sheet stated that around 35 witnesses may testify. Mostakin Sardar was named as the sole accused. According to sources, the CCTV footage was reviewed and its report tabled with only the DNA report pending. Special public prosecutor Bivas Chatterjee said they will seek in-custody trial of the accused.
