Ludhiana: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Tuesday arrested sub-inspector Mandeep Singh, officer in charge of the Nabipur police post in Sirhind police jurisdiction of Fatehgarh Sahib district, on the charges of accepting ₹15,000 as bribe. SSP Rupinder Singh of the vigilance bureau’s economic offences wing (EOW) in Ludhiana said the arrest followed a complaint received from Ludhiana resident Vineet Kumar. The complaint suggest that the sub-inspector demanded ₹25,000 from Kumar to release his two private ambulances involved in an accident with a truck. The deal was finalized at ₹20,000, with the accused officer having received ₹5,000 already as an initial payment.
