Mangaluru: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, and Adavi Alert Foundation have partnered to provide eco-friendly Revolt EV bikes for patrol operations in Bandipur Tiger Reserve.
The initiative, launched last week, aims to strengthen wildlife protection while maintaining environmental sustainability across the forest corridors connecting Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The durable electric vehicles will help reduce carbon emissions while improving patrol effectiveness, a release stated.
Officials, including S Prabhakaran, deputy conservator of forests and director of Bandipur Tiger Reserve; Harini V, AIGF with the NTCA; and NP Naveen Kumar, assistant conservator of forests for Bandipur, attended the handover ceremony. St Aloysius representatives Ronald Nazareth and Alwyn D'Sa (registrars), Denis Fernandes (director), and Kiran Vati K (assistant professor, zoology department) participated in the event.
Adavi Alert Foundation founder Pavan Joshi acknowledged Rev Praveen Martis, vice-chancellor of St Aloysius, and stated, "Without his guidance and dedication, this initiative would not be possible. These EV bikes represent a proactive approach to forest protection, ensuring greater safety for both personnel and wildlife while reducing our carbon footprint."
