Mangaluru: As part of the Election Commission of India's (ECI) ongoing revision of the voter list, in Dakshina Kannada district, a total of 51,815 new voters were added, including 19,905 first-time voters. The draft voter list was released on Oct 29, with the public given time until Nov 28 to raise any objections. Final decisions on objections will be made by Dec 24, and the official voter roll is set for release on Jan 6.
Deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP stated that 22,948 voters were removed, and corrections were made in 28,827 voter IDs. The current voters roll now includes 23,894 voters aged 85, and above, 14,268 differntly abled, 258 NRIs, and 514 service voters.
Special enrolment drives are scheduled on Nov 9, 10, 23, and 24, from 10 am to 5 pm across all polling stations in the district. According to the draft, the voter counts in constituencies are: Belthangady-2,32,269; Moodbidri-2,10,211; Mangaluru City North-2,56,112; Mangaluru City South-2,53,407; Mangaluru- 2,09,955; Bantwal-2,29,236; and Sullia-2,09,261 voters, Puttur- 2,16,821.
