CHENNAI: Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has made purchasing the Singara Chennai Card easier with the introduction of a streamlined OTP process, launched on Wednesday.
Commuters can now obtain the card by simply providing their phone number, receiving a one-time password (OTP) and completing verification on the spot at metro stations. This new method eliminates the need for the previous know your customer (KYC) registration, speeding up the process for travellers.
The Singara Chennai Card, introduced in April 2023, has already gained popularity, with 3.89 lakh cards issued till date. The card not only simplifies metro travel but also facilitates payment at metro station parking facilities.
CMRL is committed to enhancing the convenience of its services and continues to offer a 20% discount on all ticketing options, including the Metro Travel Card, mobile QR code tickets and various digital payment platforms like Paytm and PhonePe, according to an official release.
