NEW DELHI: Several stocks plunged in excess of 5 per cent in Mumbai trading on Wednesday even as equity benchmark BSE Sensex traded 426.85 points down at 79942.18 amid brisk selling in frontline bluechip counters.

On the BSE, Shankar Lal Rampal(down 15.21 per cent), Five-Star Business Finance(down 12.85 per cent), Dr. Lalchandani Labs(down 12.33 per cent), AVI Products India (down 10.16 per cent) and Venus Remedies(down 10.04 per cent) stood among the top losers in today's trade.

In the Nifty pack, 20 stocks closed in the green, while 30 stocks ended in the red.

The index closed 126.0 points at 24340.85.

On the BSE, Shankar Lal Rampal, Confidence Futuristic Energetech, Evergreen Textiles, Gautam Gems and Cressanda Sol hit their fresh 52-week lows, while Baba Arts, Gala Precision Engin, Cosyn, Jagsonpal Pharm and T T Ltd touched their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade.
