PATNA: Cricketer Ishan Kishan’s father Pranav Kumar Pandey joined chief minister Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) along with his friends and supporters on Sunday.
Pandey was inducted into the JD(U) in the presence of several senior functionaries, including party’s national working president and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Kumar Jha, state unit chief Umesh Singh Kushwaha, MLCs Lalan Saraf and Sanjay Kuamr Singh alias Gandhijee at a function held at the party office here. After joining the JD(U), Pandey said, “I am feeling happy after coming back to the party. Our leader Nitish Kumar has always been an inspiration for me. Now, I will work hard and strengthen the party under the guidance of the party’s senior functionaries.”
Speaking on the occasion, Jha said, “Pandey and some members of his family had been associated with us since days of the Samata Party. However, due to focusing on making his son a cricketer and being busy with his business, he was unable to dedicate time to the party. He has decided to rejoin the JD(U) to strengthen the hands of chief minister Nitish Kumar.”
Jha added that Pandey’s return would bolster the party’s organization in the Patna and Magadh regions. He also expressed confidence that the NDA would secure victory in all four assembly seats in the byelections in the state.
Kushwaha echoed Jha’s sentiments, saying, “The addition of Pandey to the JD(U) ranks is expected to provide a boost to the party’s prospects in the region,” he said.
