Bokaro: North Chottanagpur divisional commissioner Pawan Kumar on Sunday held a review meeting with administrative officials in the wake of ensuing assembly polls at the collectorate auditorium to assess the progress of the electoral process and ensure its smooth execution.
During the meeting, Kumar inquired about the allocation of additional polling staff at stations with more than 1,200 voters. District electoral officer, Jadhav Vijaya Narayan Rao said that extra personnel have been assigned to various locations. Further, nine facility centres for postal ballot voting have been identified, and their details have been published in newspapers, she added.
The availability of Accessible Mechanism Facilities (AMF) at polling centres was another key point of the discussion. The district election officer assured that essential amenities such as electricity, water, toilets, ramps, wheelchairs, furniture, signage, and help desks have been arranged in advance. A total of 15 check posts have been set up, along with teams like flying squads and VST.
Officials also informed that the initial training for polling personnel has been completed, and awareness sessions for booth level officers (BLOs) have been organised to facilitate the distribution of Voter Information Slips (VIS).
Kumar also reviewed various voter awareness activities aimed at increasing the district's voting percentage. He discussed several apps developed by election commission of India, including “Voter Helpline, Saksham, C-Vigil, Suvidha, Encore, and KYC apps.” He emphasized the need for special activities at polling stations with lower voter turnout and instructed officials to send bulk SMS notifications to voters on polling day.
