Saryu Roy of JD(U) expressed confidence in winning the Jamshedpur West constituency against minister Banna Gupta, citing past successes and Gupta's corruption allegations. The Jharkhand assembly elections, with multiple alliances and a total of 2.60 crore eligible voters, will occur in phases on November 13 and 20.
NEW DELHI: Janata Dal (United) candidate Saryu Roy expressed confidence in winning the upcoming Jharkhand assembly election. Roy, who is running for the Jamshedpur West assembly constituency, highlighted his previous victory as an independent candidate in 2019 when he defeated former Chief Minister Raghubar Das.

Roy stated, "Last time when I was contesting independent, I defeated the CM. This time I am in the electoral fray against a small minister who is facing corruption allegations and many other charges, he is being saved by the government otherwise, he would have been in jail, to defeat such a minister is not a difficult task."
Roy is running against Jharkhand minister and Congress candidate Banna Gupta. The elections are scheduled in two phases on November 13 and November 20.
Responding to criticisms from BJP and its election co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma, Banna Gupta said, "Talking about Hemant Biswa Sarma, I don’t take him seriously, I think he is a 'Chinese item', like how a Chinese pen is used once and then thrown away, he is the same as there is no weight to what he is saying."
Banna Gupta also criticized the BJP-JD(U) alliance, drawing an analogy, "Whenever a flood comes then a snake and a mouse sits on the same tree, similarly BJP and JD(U) are sitting together now."
The BJP allies in Jharkhand include the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) party, contesting 10 seats; Janata Dal (United), contesting 2 seats; and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), contesting one seat.
The ruling alliance of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress, which is contesting with Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), has retained their partnership.
The Jharkhand assembly elections will be held in phases on November 13 and November 20. A total of 2.60 crore voters are eligible to vote, including 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters, with 11.84 lakh first-time voters and 66.84 lakh young voters.
