In a bid to maintain discipline, 10 Telangana Special Police personnel were dismissed for unauthorized strikes after prior warnings. Earlier, 39 personnel were suspended for similar reasons. Unrest continued with protests demanding reinstatements, citing disruptive work culture and lack of eligible leave.
HYDERABAD: Twenty four hours after the office of DGP took a decision to suspend 39 agitating TGSP personnel, in a late night decision taken on Sunday 10 personnel were dismissed from service.
"To reinforce discipline and uphold the core values of the Telangana Special Police (TGSP), certain personnel have been dismissed from service following their involvement in unauthorized agitations and strikes both in public spaces across Telangana, including Hyderabad. These individuals, despite repeated warnings and opportunities to refrain from disruptive behavior, engaged in actions that severely undermined Battalion discipline, threatened operational cohesion, and tarnished the image of the force," ADGP Sanjay Kumar Jain said.
Recently, some TGSP personnel engaged in protests both inside the Battalion campus and on the streets in various locations, including Hyderabad.
On Saturday late night, 39 personnel from the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, and 17th battalions of TGSP, located across several districts in the state, were suspended.
"The actions of these personnel allegedly instigated unrest within the Battalion, negatively impacting morale and operational efficiency, " the officials noted.
While an investigation is underway, the DGP's office warned other personnel that disciplinary action will be taken against anyone found violating conduct rules.
On Sunday, constables from the 17th battalion in Rajanna - Sircilla defied this warning and staged a protest, demanding the reinstatement of six colleagues from the suspended group.
They threatened that all 200 policemen in the battalion would resign if their demands were not met. The protest lasted nearly two hours at the main gate and near the Commandant's chamber.
Protesters alleged that the demanding work culture within TGSP affects their family lives, as they are often deployed far from their battalions, leading to prolonged separations from their families. They also demanded the right to take eligible leave.
