NEW DELHI: Terrorists opened fire on an Indian Army vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor area early Monday, officials said. The incident took place around 7:25 am near the Shivassan temple in Jogwan, within the Battal area, but no casualties were reported.
A search operation was promptly launched in Akhnoor, near the Pakistan border, after locals reported the presence of three heavily armed terrorists in the vicinity of the Assan temple in the Bhattal area of Khour. According to officials, a few gunshots were heard when an Army ambulance was passing through the forward village.
Army troops and police have cordoned off the village and nearby areas, and efforts are ongoing to locate and neutralise the suspected infiltrators.
