Ahmedabad: On Oct 21, Auda approved a proposal to penalise units littering on the SP Ring Road surrounding Ahmedabad city. So far, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority has issued notices to 2,050 units for littering on the SP Ring Road, warning them that future violations would result in penalties.
Auda has set penalties ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 6,000 for littering on the SP Ring Road. If a unit is caught littering more than three times, steps may be taken to revoke their building use permission.
The road, stretching 76km around Ahmedabad, has seen waste being dumped in the catch water drains between the main carriageway and service road. This prompted Auda to implement a penalty policy following repeated complaints.
