Coimbatore: Salem police have issued a notice of reward for information on the identity of a woman who was found murdered 10 days ago. The woman was found dead with severe cuts on her head and body near a lake in Mallur, Salem.
On October 17, locals spotted the body of an unidentified woman, aged around 40 years, near the lake and alerted police. Police retrieved the woman's body and sent it to the Salem government hospital for a postmortem.
According to police sources, it is suspected that the woman was murdered elsewhere and dumped into the lake. Despite investigation by Salem and Namakkal police, the woman's identity isyet to be established. A lookout notice for a missing person has been issued in both districts.
Salem police have now issued a reward notice for those providing any valuable information or identifying the deceased woman. Fundamental details on her appearance and identity marks have been mentioned in the notice.
