Gurgaon: Nishant Kumar Yadav, a 2013-batch IAS officer who was district commissioner of Gurgaon, was transferred to Chandigarh in the same post.
Yadav will replace Vinay Pratap Singh, whose tenure ends next month. Till Saturday evening, the govt was yet to announce a deputy commissioner for Gurgaon.
The Centre appoints DCs for Chandigarh on a rotational basis on the recommendation of Punjab and Haryana govts.
"The appointment committee of the cabinet approved the proposal of the Union home ministry for the appointment of Nishant Kumar Yadav to the post of Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, on inter-cadre deputation from Haryana cadre to AGMUT cadre for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earliest," read a notice by the department of personnel and training.
Haryana govt had sent to the Centre the names of three IAS officers for the Chandigarh DC's post. Apart from Yadav, Ajay Kumar, a 2013-batch officer who is the Rohtak DC, and Manoj Kumar, his counterpart in Sonipat, were the other recommendations.
Yadav was appointed the Gurgaon DC in Feb 2022, succeeding Yash Garg. He has previously held the posts of DC, additional DC and municipal commissioner in Karnal, and sub-divisional magistrate of Sonipat. He has also served as secretary at the Haryana Public Service Commission.
