Kolkata: Cops nabbed two persons, Md Siraj Ansari and Kaushik Mehta, from Mumbai in connection with two separate fake matrimonial app cases.The apps were used to trap victims from Kolkata and threaten them with digital arrest and extortion.
Rs 3.5 lakh and Rs 49 lakh were extorted by the duo, respectively. On Friday, Bankshall court remanded Siraj in cop custody till Nov 7. tnn

The duo made at least seven calls, posing as PMO officials, demanding Rs 50 lakh to retain tickets and threatening reputational damage. A complaint was lodged on Oct 6, leading to their arrest and remand till Oct 28.
